Siân’s Prodigies

lessons for all ages and people; a joyful journey that unlocks your musicianship & boosts your confidence

I’m Siân Winstanley (MMUS), a passionate music teacher who brings joy to her classroom!

With my infectious energy, I inspire students to explore their musical talents, whether through singing, violin, viola, flute or piano.  My classes are filled with fun activities, encouraging musicianship and a lifelong love of the art. Students leave my lessons not only skilled in musical theory and performance but invigorated.

I received Distinctions in my Bachelor and Master of Music and further studied at the Opera Studio in Ghent before embarking on a career as a classical soprano soloist.

After having children and moving to Scotland, I decided not to tour anymore and concentrated on conducting and teaching, which I have done since my uni days.

As I delved further into voice teaching, I became fascinated by vocal health versus injury and retrained as a voice rehabilitation specialist with a broad swathe of complimentary skills including vocal coaching across western genres,
vocal massage, manual therapy, acupuncture, counselling skills and mindfulness with which I personalise treatment for professional singers with voice problems, in conjunction with ENT and SLTs.

I continue to sing, conduct the
Helensburgh Dorian Choir and teach a variety of instruments to children and adults.

Young Teachers

The waiting list for lessons has been growing steadily for years and having decided I couldn’t teach everyone myself, I began encouraging particularly accomplished young musicians of 16-17 to to begin teaching.

I mentor them in musical pedagogy and how to teach children with sensory and other educational needs, in the hope that the experience develops them as musicians and people and that they feel competent and enthused to bring music to their communities as adults.

Several have gone on to study music at university and I believe being responsible for smaller people’s learning is an invaluable experience and stands them in excellent stead in their future careers.

Music Lessons & Exams

At Sian's Prodigies, we inspire aspiring musicians to unlock their full potential in a supportive atmosphere. We offer personalised solo, duo and group lessons that help students achieve musical excellence. We have high expectations of students and cultivate a passion for music, ensuring students thrive in their craft while building confidence and skills.

Students can choose to enter exams; I predominantly use the
Trinity exam board which offers online and in-person exams.

I also help young singers and adults prepare for auditions to higher education or professional companies in music and music theatre. I specialise in classical repertoire but am able to teach broadly any western singing style.

What we teach

  • Multi-Instrument Tuition & Support

Master your choice of voice, violin, viola, flute, ukulele or piano with expert guidance.
Having the right equipment is just as important as the technique itself, which is why I offer a range of string instruments in various sizes available for hire or to buy. This ensures every student has access to a high-quality instrument that fits them perfectly as they grow and progress.

  • Accessible Music Lessons

Music should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their age, schedule or location. I offer solo, duo and group lessons delivered both online and in-person. Every session is tailored to the individual needs, pace and goals of the student, ensuring that music education remains engaging, personal and effective.

  • Performance, Exam & Audition Preparation

Taking your skills to the stage or the next academic level requires specific, focused training. We provide dedicated exam and audition preparation alongside regular performance opportunities to build confidence. With many of our pupils successfully going on to study music or musical theatre at a higher level, Sian’s Prodigies is the ideal place to begin your professional journey.
